Hyperloop One Co-Founder Takes Temporary Leave over Sexual Harassment Allegations

Shervin Pishevar, the co-founder of Hyperloop One and former Uber board member, has taken a leave of absence following allegations of sexual harassment.

Ars Technica reports that Shervin Pishevar, a Silicon Valley investor, co-found of Hyperloop One project, and major investor and former board member of Uber, has announced a leave of absence from Hyperloop One following multiple claims of sexual harassment. Five women have reportedly accused Pishevar of speaking to them in a sexual manner and using “his position of power to pursue romantic relationships and unwanted sexual encounters.”

In a statement released on Tuesday, Pishevar branded the allegations as a “smear campaign” but announced that he would be taking a temporary leave of absence from Hyperloop One. “I have decided to take an immediate leave of absence from my duties at Sherpa Capital and Virgin Hyperloop One, as well as my portfolio company board responsibilities, so that I can pursue the prosecution of my lawsuit, where I am confident I will be vindicated,” Pishervar stated.

Pishevar has not had the best relationship with other leaders during his involvement with Uber, previously threatening to sue former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick along with other board members if they did not allow him to keep his “supervoting” powers.
