The University of Virginia College Republicans club was falsely accused of participating in the “Unite the Right” rally by a Twitter account which attempted to dox attendees, naming the wrong individuals in a variety of cases.

The College Republicans at the University of Virginia were quick to denounce the worldview and activities of those who organized the now infamous “Unite the Right” protest which took place on their campus after the student organization was accused by the Twitter account, @YesYoureRacist of taking part in the rally.

“As College Republicans, we must take an active role in combatting these vile beliefs,” the club said in a statement. They blasted the use of  “the conservative movement to justify these ideas,” and added that their “organization will do everything in our power to reject them.”

“To the best of our knowledge, none of our members attended and if we discover that they did participate, they will no longer be welcome in our organization,” the club added.

Even the College Democrats at UVA rushed to the defense of their peers on the right. After the account, “YesYoureRacist” attempted to smear the UVA College Republicans by suggesting that they participated in the rallies, the College Democrats fired back.

“This is wholly inaccurate. The [College Republicans] have firmly stated their opposition to Nazi and KKK ideology. Do not spread falsehoods about them,” the Democrats tweeted.

The @YesYoureRacist Twitter account had its Patreon campaign suspended for doxing violations. Patreon explained to Breitbart Tech that they don’t allow their users to use their platform to fund the practice of doxing.

“We removed the creator, Yes, You’re Racist, from Patreon because of doxing violations,” the company told Breitbart Tech. “Patreon does not allow creators to use Patreon to fund the practice of doxing. We do not believe anyone should be doxed and take a strong stance against it, regardless of who is being doxed. Our Community Guidelines clearly prohibit it and say that any creator caught in the act of malicious doxing — or encouraging others to do so — may be banned from using Patreon.”
