Breitbart News campus correspondent Tom Ciccotta criticized Bucknell University on “Tipping Point with Liz Wheeler,” Wednesday, after administrators attempted to defend a college professor who encouraged students to “impose a steep and lasting price” on conservative students.
“The email was sent to all of the faculty at Bucknell, but it was addressed in the subject line to ‘the whole community,’ so I think it was his hope that the faculty would disseminate it to students,” explained Ciccotta during Wheeler’s show. “First what he did was he called me and my peers who helped arrange a speaking event last year ‘racists’ and ‘fascists’ for doing so, and then he said that any student who felt like they were targeted by that event should impose a ‘steep and lasting price’ on us.”
“It was shocking, and I mean what was more disappointing than anything else is that he hasn’t even got a slap on the wrist, and they’re trying to suggest that he was saying students should engage me in conversation” he continued. “In this email, he talks about how back in his day he would fight fascists by snapping their bones and rearranging their faces. There’s a lot of violent imagery, he talks about pistol whipping somebody, and I don’t think that’s what he meant about us, but it was a very reckless and irresponsible thing that he did.”
“Now my biggest frustration is that the university, I think, is being dishonest in suggesting that this email and his instructions about me and my peers, is a call for more speech in response to my speech and in response to the speakers speech last year,” Ciccotta concluded. “In reality, a reasonable analysis of what he says is that there should be some sort of reprisal, some sort of retribution for my speech. Just on Friday night somebody came up to my dorm room door and wrote ‘Tom is a fascist’ on the door. Somebody also put some sort of substance on the doorknob, and that’s fine, but that to me is an act of intimidation. That’s saying ‘you spoke out, and we’re going to make you feel unwelcome.'”
