The Windows 10 Marketplace is offering refunds for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare since almost no one is playing it through that platform.
That’s right, unfortunate Windows 10 Marketplace customers can now pay a little bit more to re-purchase their game on Steam’s thriving platform. Their $63.99 copies of the latest entry in the blockbuster action franchise may have saved them about $16 on Steam’s asking price but unfortunately didn’t include any way to participate in online matches with Steam customers.
Publisher Activision is the apparent culprit, mysteriously choosing to leave the Windows 10 Marketplace and Steam communities disconnected. Microsoft was quick to reply that they would happily have supported such a unification with its platform, so it’s unclear why exactly the decision was made. Other titles like Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, and the upcoming Gwent online card game have no such issues.
While the meager collection of Windows 10 Marketplace customers migrate and pay up to join the Steam community, Activision remains silent on the outwardly bizarre decision to make this an issue in the first place. We’ll be sure to update if the situation clarifies.
For now it seems best to stick to Steam or consoles — as per usual.
