After emails released by WikiLeaks Wednesday morning showed the Department of Justice’s Assistant Attorney General Peter Kadzik using his personal email account to give a “heads up” to Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta about events related to the Hillary Clinton email scandal, Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch and former U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia Joe diGenova gave scathing responses to the information.

Fitton told Breitbart News, “Mr. Kadzik should be fired immediately” and diGenova said, “I don’t think there’s any way now that [the Department of Justice] will be able to avoid a special prosecutor.”

In an email chain from 2015, Assistant Attorney General Kadzik, using his private Gmail account, sent a note to John Podesta with the subject “Heads up:”

Subject: Heads up

To: John Podesta <john.podesta@gmail.com>

There is a HJC oversight hearing today where the head of our Civil Divisionwill testify. Likely to get questions on State Department emails. Another filing in the FOIA case went in last night or will go in this am that indicates it will be awhile (2016) before the State Department posts the emails.

John Podesta then passed the emails along to a number of people in the Clinton campaign—including aide Cheryl Mills, who was deeply involved in the Hillary Clinton email scandal—and commented, “Additional chances for mischief.”

Additional chances for mischief.

Months later, as the Clinton email investigation had begun to gather steam and the presidential primary season was just getting underway, in papers filed on Monday, January 11, 2016 in the Judicial Watch v. State Department case, the State Department agreed to begin releasing 400 emails a month from top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

a. State will produce to Judicial Watch all responsive, non-exempt records from within the recently received Abedin documents, excluding news clippings/briefings, by April 30, 2017. State will provide rolling productions every thirty days, beginning on March 1, 2016, reviewing a minimum of 400 pages per month.

The next day, Peter Kadzik and John Podesta had a short exchange about meeting in person.

On Tuesday, January 12, 2016, Peter Kadzik <peterkadzik@gmail.com> wrote:

We on?

Podesta replied:

On Tue, Jan 12, 2016 at 10:39 PM, John Podesta <john.podesta@gmail.com>

Yes sorry. 7:30 at our place

Kadzik responded the next day, saying “Great. C u then.”

Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch said:

Mr. Kadzik should be fired immediately. Frankly, I’m not sure how Attorney General Lynch can continue in office.  In the least, Kadzik should be subject to an investigation by the Office of Professional Responsibility.  He may have also violated criminal laws in leaking this material to Podesta.  This also demonstrates the urgent need for an independent, special prosecutor.  The Obama Justice Department  leadership is corrupt, conflicted, and compromised.

The former U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia Joe diGenova told Breitbart News exclusively:

What it shows is what I’ve been saying all along: the current Justice Department is politically corrupt, they compromise the integrity of the department, that Loretta Lynch with her meeting with Bill Clinton on the plane has completely disqualified herself from participating in any of the decisions about this, yet she continues to do so.

She is blocking grand jury investigation into the laptops and denying access to people who want to see it. I think without a doubt the scandal within the department is growing and that upon return, Congress will start investigation into the Justice Department. I don’t think there’s any way now that they will be able to avoid a special prosecutor. The Atty. Gen.’s hopelessly compromised but she is a political hack and she will hang in there as long as she can.

But (FBI director James) Comey should have never agreed to the original investigation being dinged on the way it was. He should resign. That’s why he’s considered a dirty cop by many of the former and current agents. he should say “if you’re going to hurry this up, I will resign. That’s what he should do.”

James Comey is no profile in courage. He’s gutless. It’s all about his future. You should reside the beginning when the refuse to give a grand jury and they wouldn’t allow people to do grand jury subpoenas and search warrants and they’re gonna do that again, he should resign now that’s what you do if your real FBI director. You don’t take crap from a hack like Loretta Lynch.

In a previous interview with Breitbart News, diGenova explained the dynamics at play in the Clinton email investigation, including what he sees as a fundamentally flawed FBI investigation led by a politically compromised James Comey.
