Blizzard has updated Overwatch character Tracer’s infamous “butt pose” with what might be the perfect response.
Following the impassioned plea of a member of the Overwatch‘s community on the game’s forum regarding one of Tracer’s several victory poses, Blizzard has corrected the “presentation” of the character’s spandex-coated derriere.
Yep, that’s right. Tracer’s new victory pose appears to be directly modeled after classic pinup art.
Was this an elaborate trolling of those raising their voices against perceived ‘sexist’ images in gaming? Or was Game Director Jeff Kaplan’s statement more than just the frantic fire-quenching that so many people assumed?
We wouldn’t do anything to sacrifice our creative vision for Overwatch, and we’re not going to remove something solely because someone may take issue with it. Our goal isn’t to water down or homogenize the world, or the diverse cast of heroes we’ve built within it. We have poured so much of our heart and souls into this game that it would be a travesty for us to do so.
Either way, the controversy seems to have died, and with the benefit of one of the best visual punchlines that modern gaming has ever seen.
In other news, Tracer and her problematic bottom will be hitting Blizzard’s multiverse MOBA Heroes of the Storm very soon.
