In May, a U.S. Special Forces operation in Syria killed senior ISIS leader Abu Sayyaf, one of the top money men for the terror state. His wife Umm Sayyaf was taken prisoner and placed in detention in Iraq. Umm Sayyaf has now been charged in U.S. federal court with conspiracy in the death of Kayla Mueller, the American aid worker who was kidnapped, enslaved, brutalized, and ultimately killed by the Islamic State.

Officials investigating areas previously controlled by the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) have found underground dungeons the terrorist group uses to keep its sex slaves, most of the Yazidi minority religious sect. The whereabouts of the women forced into these dungeons are unknown.

It would have been great to take Abu Sayyaf alive, but it was known at the time that his wife was also a high-value target, and subsequent interrogations have proven her to be a major asset. In fact, Nancy Youssef at the Daily Beast judges Umm Sayyaf to be “the richest human intelligence source to fall into U.S. hands to date.”

The most troubling statistic found in a report by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, published on the Islamic State’s (ISIS/ISIL) first anniversary, involves the treatment of children. The group believes ISIS murdered at least 74 children in the past year.

Yazidi artist Ammar Salim, 31, uses his talent to show the world what the Yazidis suffer under the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/Daesh). His paintings tell the story of the Yazidi massacres. “I want to connect all that happened, to explain about the Yazidi genocide,” he explained to Rudaw.
