French Assembly Votes to Give Holocaust Survivors Reparations

The French National Assembly voted on Wednesday to distribute $60 million to non-French victims of the Holocaust. The fund is set to be administered by the United States. It will be distributed to foreign nationals who were deported from France to Nazi death camps, especially Auschwitz, on French rail lines.

WWII Allies Missing from Russia’s Victory Day Extravaganza

There was a significant absence in Moscow on May 9. Even though it was the 70th anniversary of the official end of the European front of World War II, the leaders of the victorious allied powers decided not to attend the Victory Day parade due to increasing tensions with Russia over Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping Sign Economic and Agricultural Agreements

It is Victory Day in Europe and Russia, but Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Chinese President Xi Jinping instead of celebrating with his World War II allies. The talks include agreements on the economy and energy as Russia continues to suffer under sanctions for the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

Aggies Muster in Philippines and Around the World to Honor Corregidor Heroes

A Texas A&M Aggie Muster was held in Manila, Philippines, on Tuesday to honor the Aggies who some seventy plus years ago fought in the Corregidor battle. More than 300 Aggie Musters will be held worldwide where ever Texas A&M graduates reside. There are plans to dedicate a monument that has recently been erected on Corregidor to the all of these Texas Aggie servicemen that defended Bataan and Corregidor during the WWII era and those at the 1946 Manila Muster.
