WSJ: China Floods Facebook and Twitter with Chinese Virus Disinformation

In a recent article, the Wall Street Journal outlines how China has begun spreading viral messages in an attempt to shape the narrative of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. The communist country’s state-run media outlets have been allowed by Twitter and Facebook to flood their platforms with posts disparaging American efforts to stop the Chinese virus pandemic, as well as posting misinformation about the Wuhan coronavirus itself.

Facebook’s nine official fact-checking partners, including such allegedly prestigious outlets as the Associated Press and Reuters, collectively failed to conduct a single fact check on an erroneous post from the Huffington Post, which repeated the misleading claim that President Donald Trump has a “stake” in a hydroxychloroquine drugmaker. As explained by Breitbart News economy editor John Carney, Trump’s family trust has a small investment in a mutual fund that owns shares of drugmaker Sanofi. How small of an investment? $1,485 at the maximum, but possibly as low as $99.10.

Report: Customers Lure Instacart Shoppers with Big Tips – then Stiff Them

Some Americans have been exploiting a loophole within the Instacart grocery delivery service app that allows them to lure delivery people in with promises of a large tip only to then cancel the tip shortly after their order has been delivered. One delivery person told reporters that a $55 tip was changed to $0 shortly after she delivered a large grocery order.

Liberty U. Presses Charges Against Journalists for Trespassing on Campus

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. announced this week that the university is bringing criminal trespassing charges against two journalists that traveled to campus to report on its decision to remain open during the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. Falwell told the press that he made the decision to bring charges against the journalists over concerns that they could have spread the Chinese virus to students.

Chinese City Offers $71,000 for Tips to Catch Illegal Immigrants

Fuzhou, capital of China’s eastern Fujian Province, is offering up to 500,000 yuan ($71,000) in reward for anyone who reports clues on illegal immigrants as part of an effort to curb the transmission of the Wuhan coronavirus from imported cases, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s Global Times reported on Wednesday.
