Exclusive: Biden Admin Stops Title 42 Expulsions for Venezuelan Migrants in Two Texas Border Sectors

Border Patrol agents received instructions from Biden administration officials to stop using the CDC Emergency COVID-19 Title 42 authority on Venezuelans apprehended along the border in some of Texas’ busiest sectors. According to a source within Customs and Border Protection, Mexico informed the Biden administration they will no longer accept Venezuelan migrants expelled under the Title 42 authority in the Del Rio and El Paso Sectors.

A large group of migrants found themselves stranded on an island in the Rio Grande when rising water levels and swift currents made their river crossing nearly impossible. Border Patrol agents eventually rescued the group of 141 migrants Sunday more than 20 miles south of Eagle Pass.  A Texas rancher captured video of the group of migrants hidden by trees and thick Carrizo cane on the island before the Border Patrol arrived on the scene.

Venezuelan Migrants Attack Border Patrol Agents with Flag Pole in Texas

Venezuelan migrants protesting changes in Biden Administration immigration policies attacked El Paso Border Patrol agents with a pole bearing a large flag from their home nation. Another migrant threw a rock at an agent, causing an injury. The agents responded by firing pepper balls to drive the migrants back to the river.

Venezuelan Migrant Apprehensions Surge in All Southwest Border Sectors

Border Patrol agents are arresting large numbers of Venezuelan migrants at a greater frequency than in past years. The large, mostly Venezuelan migrant groups that at one time almost exclusively entered through the Del Rio, Texas, are now spreading across the southwest border from San Diego, California, to Brownsville, Texas. The groups of predominantly Venezuelans are even crossing into the most remote regions of the border in West Texas.

EXCLUSIVE: Large Migrant Group Rushes Border in West Texas

Border Patrol agents in Del Rio apprehended more than 250 migrants crossing the Rio Grande in a single group. The group, according to a source within Customs and Border Protection (CBP) crossed the river into the United States on Sunday near the Del Rio International Bridge where more than 15,000 mostly Haitian migrants were held in a makeshift detention camp in September.
