Reelz to Broadcast Miss USA, after NBC and Univision Dropped Trump

Reelz CEO Stan E. Hubbard released a statement Thursday saying the cable and satellite channel recently acquired the rights, adding that he thinks the women who compete in the pageant “are an integral part of American tradition.” “As one of only a few independent networks, we decided to exercise our own voice and committed ourselves to bringing this pageant to American viewers everywhere,” Hubbard stated.

The Miss USA pageant was scheduled for July 12, but will no longer air on NBC after the network decided to sever its business relations with Trump – who owns the pageant – following his statements on the southern border and illegal immigrants during his announcement speech this month.

Rubio Affirms He’ll End Obama’s Executive Amnesty; Univision Interview Mistranslated

In a Spanish language interview with Jorge Ramos on Univision’s Al Punto show, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) discussed immigration policy, affirming his longstanding objection to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) programs. Part of the Ramos interview with Rubio aired on Wednesday and the full interview is scheduled to air on Sunday.

Univisión Denies Claim White House Pushed for Host Firing over Ape Comment

Rodner Figueroa, a Venezuelan fashion correspondent fired this week from Univisión over remarks comparing First Lady Michelle Obama to a character on Planet of the Apes, claims that he was verbally informed that First Lady Obama’s office complained directly to Univisión about the broadcast, which resulted in his firing. Univisión has denied any White House involvement in the firing.
