Texas Non-Profit Migrant Children Shelter CEO Draws $1.5M Salary, Say Media Reports

The founder and CEO of a 30-year-old Texas non-profit group tasked with housing illegal immigrant children is being challenged by media outlets for allegedly taking a $1.5 million salary in 2016 (latest report available). The group’s revenue increased more than ten-fold since 2008 as the numbers of unaccompanied minors and separated families increased over the year.

Border Arrests Increase 200 Percent Above Previous Year

More than 100K Unaccompanied Migrant Children Released into U.S. Since FY2016

Immigration officials released more than 100,000 Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) apprehended at the border into the U.S. interior since Fiscal Year 2016. White House officials state that many of the family members of these minors–mostly from Central America–paid criminal organizations to smuggle their children to the United States.

ACLU Cannot Create a Sanctuary Abortion State, Says Texas Attorney General

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said the ACLU cannot turn the Lone Star State into a sanctuary state for abortions. His remarks follow the overturning of a D.C. district court judge’s ruling that the federal government could not stop a teenage illegal immigrant from having an abortion. The D.C. Court of Appeals temporarily stayed the lower court’s ruling from Wednesday.
