Two unusual campus responses took place the day after President Trump signed an executive order that took aim squarely at the checkbooks of colleges and universities that deny free speech to students on campus.

Kirk said the weekly segments will give listeners the opportunity to hear firsthand accounts, “straight from the students,” about “the culture war that is happening on our college campuses.”

Vice President Mike Pence spoke at Turning Point USA’s Midwest Regional Conference on Friday, where he told students and activists that “censorship is the tool of a coward” and that there is a “battle over the closing of the American mind” on college campuses today. Pence added that the Trump administration “will not stand idly by and allow public institutions to violate their students’ constitutional rights.”

A professor from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln compared conservative students to the New Zealand mosque shooter Friday on social media by falsely accusing them of displaying a “white power symbol,” despite the targeted students having not displayed a symbol representing white power.

Three individuals have been arrested for aggravated arson after allegedly setting a dorm room door on fire during the late hours of Friday night at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Although the motive behind the arson still remains unclear, one of the students living in the targeted dorm room is the president of Tulane’s Turning Point USA chapter, and had recently been “doxed” by leftists seeking to “expose” members of TPUSA and Young American for Liberty (YAL).

“If a college or a university does not allow you to speak, we will not give them money, it’s very simple,” Trump said. 

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday requiring colleges and universities to uphold the First Amendment on campus if they want to receive federal research funding.

Students at Georgia Southern University were confronted by school staff and campus police last week while recruiting members for the Turning Point USA student group on campus. Staff told the conservative students that they needed to “fill out paperwork” in order to exercise free speech at the public university, and then proceeded to call the police when the students did not leave the public grounds.

As I write this on Thursday morning, I do so on a day that President Donald Trump is loosening up his right hand to sign what will be a first step against the intolerance of free speech on college campuses.

The media isn’t interested in wall-to-wall coverage of a politically motivated assault when the victim is a conservative at UC Berkeley.
