TLC to Air Transgender Teen Reality Series

TLC will become the latest network to jump into the transgender programming market this summer, with the debut of All That Jazz, a reality show about 14-year-old transgender activist and You Tube star Jazz Jennings.

San Diego Airport Introduces ‘Gender-Neutral’ Bathrooms

On Mar. 5, San Diego International Airport, also known as Lindbergh Field, designated 12 restrooms as gender-neutral in its terminals. The restrooms previously were designated as single-stall family restrooms, but now they feature a logo on them that is half-man, half woman, according to FOX5 San Diego. KPBS reported that the signs also say, “Anyone can use this restroom, regardless of gender identity or expression.” All the terminals feature the new bathrooms except for the small Commuter Terminal.

Rep. Mike Honda Acknowledges ‘Transgender Grandchild’

On Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Mike Honda tweeted that he is “the proud grandpa of a transgender grandchild,” continuing, “I hope she can feel safe at school without fear of being bullied.” The picture accompanying the tweet showed the young child with shoulder-length hair smiling as Honda wrapped his arm around the child.

Transgender Activists: Be More Sensitive to Bruce Jenner

Former Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner’s decision to transition from a man into a woman has been met with mixed reactions from the media and population at large. The pending change has also caused local and national transgender groups to call for people to be more sensitive towards Jenner’s perceived choice, and to denounce those who are turning what is largely viewed as Jenner’s journey into a punchline.
