Jeff Sessions Challenges Obama, GOP Leaders: Hold Vote Now on Obamatrade

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) released a statement warning against the possibility that a lame-duck session could be used to pass President Obama’s “deeply unpopular 5,554 page Trans-Pacific Partnership.” Sessions wants to eliminate the fast-track authority granted to Obama by Congress earlier this year that is “being used to create this new, binding international union.”

Breitbart News Daily: Brett M. Decker On the TPP

Author Brett Decker sees the TPP as another step on the long path away from fidelity to the U.S. Constitution. “You know, I don’t think the Founders would recognize anything about this country,” he said. “The whole secrecy around this thing… as much as 20 years I’ve been in this town, it shocked me how you couldn’t see this thing, it couldn’t be public. The public wasn’t allowed to see it before it was voted on and approved. Is that really what this country’s about, where we can have this ‘Great Wall of Paper’ in a new law, and the public isn’t allowed to know what it is?”

Dr. Ben Carson Signals Openness To Obamatrade’s Pacific Rim Trade Deal

This is the first time Carson himself has weighed in on Obamatrade, and the move comes after his spokesman Doug Watts previously told the Wall Street Journal he was open to it. Watts told the WSJ the day after President Barack Obama’s White House released the 5,544-page, 100-pound, several-feet-high-when-printed-out trade deal that Carson “believes the agreement does help to level the playing field in key markets and is important to improve our ties to trading partners in Asia as a counterbalance to China’s influence in the region.”

Breitbart News Daily: Economic Liberty vs. Big Government Illusions

Economic freedom is the practical expression of liberty – if we’re not free to sell our goods and labor, spending and investing the proceeds as we see fit, we’re not truly “free” to do anything but complain about how the government treats us. And if we don’t have access to valid information about the government, and how its activities distort our markets, we don’t have economic freedom, any more than the victim of a common swindle made a “free” choice to be robbed, themes discussed on Breitbart News Daily.

Obama, GOP Leaders, May Delay Free-Trade Debate Until 2016 Lame Duck Session

Top congressional staffers say Congress will delay approval of the unpopular Trans-Pacific Partnership free-trade deal until the lame-duck session after the 2016 election, according to Politico. A delay until November or December 2016 would allow companies and progressive groups their best opportunity to persuade retiring politicians, and the legislators who had just survived an election, to back the controversial deal.
