Former Texas teacher Tanya Ramirez, 31, pleaded guilty to the second degree felony charge of having an improper relationship with a student in exchange for seven years of probation. Ramirez then turned around and filed a defamation lawsuit against the mother of the student with whom she admitted to the purported sexual misconduct. Ramirez may even sue the student for invasion of privacy.

The 2014-15 academic year marks the 7th year in a row that Texas teacher sexual misconduct towards students cases have increased. On Friday, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) reported that they opened 188 cases of educator accused of these inappropriate relationships during the fiscal year ending August 31.

Teacher-student sexual misconduct in public schools is a serious matter. Last year, Texas landed at the unenviable top position on the list in a Drive West Communications study. A whopping 116 of the nation’s 781 recorded educator-student misconduct cases happened in the Lone Star State. This revelation came on the heels of the Texas Education Agency (TEA) experiencing a 27 percent increase in these kinds of inquiries which was was followed by 74 new cases under TEA investigation, as Breitbart Texas previously reported.
