Estimate: 482k Illegal Aliens Overstayed Visas Last year

“I’m concerned there are unidentified national security and public safety risks in a population that large, which has historically been the primary means for terrorist entry to the United States,” Rep. GAO: More Than a Third of Visa Waiver Countries Failing to Share Terrorists’ Info With U.S.

The Visa Waiver Program allows foreign nationals from 38, largely European, countries to travel to the U.S. without a visa for tourist and businesses stays up to 90 days. The program requires participating countries to enter into information sharing agreements to report travel threats. The GAO reports, however, that many VPW countries are not living up to their ends of the bargain.

Poll: Record Level of Americans Say Terrorists Are Winning

The poll found that 40 percent of Americans say the terrorists are winning the war on terrorism, while just 18 percent said the U.S. and its allies are currently winning. Another 40 percent of Americans said “neither side” is winning and two percent had no opinion.
