Arab Social Media Spawns Anti-Semitic Conspiracies Over Israeli Embassy Shooting

TEL AVIV — Social media users across the Arab have taken to Twitter to express their anger and spawn anti-Semitic conspiracies over an agreement between Israel and Jordan that ended a crisis surrounding a recent shooting at the Israeli embassy in Jordan where an Israeli security guard shot and killed a Jordanian civilian in self-defense while the Jordanian was reportedly stabbing him.

Abbas Confirms He Halted Security Contacts with Israel

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas confirmed on Monday his decision to halt security coordination with Israel in protest of the installation of metal detectors at entrances to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, describing the decision as difficult and warning that it would be Israelis who would suffer from the measure.

Erdogan Incites Against Israel Over Temple Mount

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan slammed Israel over its implementation of extra security measures in Jerusalem. He called on the Jewish state on Sunday to observe “basic human rights values” following the clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinian rioters over Israel’s decision to place metal detectors at the entrance to the Temple Mount complex.
