10 Cops Killed in Popular Mexican Tourist Port Since October

Cartel gunmen shot and killed an off-duty municipal police officer from the popular tourist port of Guaymas, Sonora, on Tuesday morning. With this most recent attack, the number of police officers killed in the municipality of Guaymas reached ten since October of 2018.

Sinaloa Cartel-Linked Meth Ring Busted in California

Police in southern California announced on Friday the arrests of two men linked to the Mexican-based Sinaloa Cartel. The men allegedly operated a drug-trafficking cell in Apple Valley, California. The multi-agency investigation also led to the seizure of 500 pounds of methamphetamine worth $1.25 million dollars.

31 Drug Labs Busted in Mexican Coastal State Since December 2018

The Mexican government announced that security operations led by La Secretaría de Marina or the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) located and dismantled 31 drug labs in the northern Mexican state of Sinaloa since December 1, of 2018. The state of Sinaloa is the home base for the Sinaloa Cartel also known as the Sinaloa Federation. The cartel continues to have the largest operational footprint throughout the United States and worldwide despite the capture and imprisonment of notorious cartel boss Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

Congressmen Call for U.S. Designation of Mexican Cartels as Terror Orgs — Los Zetas, Gulf in Crosshairs

U.S. Representatives Chip Roy (R-TX) and Dr. Mark Green (R-TN) drafted a letter that will be sent to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo requesting specific Mexican cartel factions be designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs). Mexican Navy Seizes 10 Tons of Meth in Northern Mexico

The Mexican military made its third major methamphetamine seizure in northern Mexico in the past week when the Mexican Navy announced the seizure of 10 tons of methamphetamine in the state of Sinaloa which occurred. 11 Killed in Tijuana in 24 hours — 650 Murdered in 2018

Cartel violence in Tijuana continues with no end in sight as 11 killings were registered in a 24-hour period earlier this week. The deaths brought the number of homicides to 650 in 2018, according to government statistics as reported by local media. Authorities reported more than 100 homicides during the month of April.

Mexican Military Takes Down Cartel Gunmen in Embattled Region

Mexican Navy Infantrymen (La Marina) engaged five alleged cartel gunmen during a fierce firefight that involved hundreds of rounds fired. Local media reports indicate grenades were used and all five gunmen were killed. The battle occurred in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico.

The murder rate in the Mexican border city of Tijuana spiked with a record-breaking number of murders. Top Mexican Drug Lord Arrested in U.S.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced the arrest of one of the top leaders in the Sonora region who was at one time part of the Sinaloa Cartel, but may have switched sides. While the man has been in U.S. custody for more than two weeks, federal authorities just announced his capture. It remains unclear if he surrendered.
