If the days since the heinous attack on Umpqua Community College (UCC) have taught us anything, it is that good people of Roseburg, Oregon, are not reacting to the actions of one criminal by calling for more gun control on everyone else.
Left-of-center media outlets began attacking the local sheriff from the Oregon county where the recent mass shooting occurred almost immediately after the tragedy. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence jumped in, and now the full weight of CNN has joined the dog-pile attack. Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin was first attacked for his pro-Second Amendment views, then the Brady campaign and CNN began attacking him for a Facebook post he allegedly made nearly three years ago. Yes, that means they targeted the sheriff and did opposition research on a leader currently handling a mass shooting in his county.
The anti-gun Brady Campaign called for Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin to resign over his unwavering support of the gun rights, even in the wake of last week’s Umpqua Community College shooting. Attacks from the liberal media against Hanlin began almost immediately.
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence joined left-of-center media outlets in their effort to attack a local sheriff from the Oregon county where the recent mass shooting occurred. As Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin is dealing with the aftermath of the violence and helping his community, the Brady Campaign demanded his immediate resignation due to his opposition to gun control laws which were passed and signed into law in Oregon earlier this year.
Residents in Roseburg, Oregon, are rallying around the Second Amendment in the wake of the heinous attack on Umpqua Community College (UCC), suggesting the attack itself is proof of why citizens need to be armed for self-defense.
According to CBS News, a blog which appears to be Chris Harper Mercer’s “[referenced] multiple shootings,” including the shooting carried out by Flanagan on August 26.
