The human smuggling ventures spanned from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning, with one causing significant property damage after smugglers abandoned a vehicle in tall grass. The ensuing brush fire destroyed the vehicle and burned privately owned ranch land.

Biden Admin Commences Border Wall Construction Study with ‘No Plan to Build’

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced the next study phase for the construction of a border barrier project covering 86 miles in the Rio Grande Valley. Last week, the agency opened the door for public comments as part of an environmental assessment. Despite the appearance of progress, CBP is already disclosing that it will not proceed with construction or new permanent land acquisitions at the conclusion of the study. The bureaucratic maneuver helps shield the agency from violating legal responsibilities to dispense with funds as Congress ordered.

Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector were startled to find a small child within a group of 47 migrants arrested near Havana, Texas, Sunday. Migrants within the group claim to have found the toddler on the banks of the Rio Grande. The three-year-old was unable to speak to Border Patrol agents at the scene and had no identity documents.

Group of 42 Migrants Found Walking Through Texas’ Deadliest County

Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Sector spotted 42 migrants walking through Brooks County, Texas, as a group. The mostly single adult males were walking through the dense brush to circumvent the US Highway 281 Border Patrol Checkpoint near Falfurrias. The area is known by many as the “Desert of the Dead” due to the number of migrants who perish to the elements making this trek each year.

According to a source within U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Border Patrol apprehended more than 200,000 migrants since October 1, 2021, which marked the beginning of Fiscal Year 2022. The source says internal predictions currently show more than 1.8 million migrant arrests for the new fiscal year.
