***LIVEWIRE*** Watch: Street Clashes in Charlotte, N.C., After Police Shooting

Police have closed portions of uptown Charlotte on Wednesday night after a series of gunshots were fired. One man has reportedly been shot. The protests are the second night where the North Carolina city has erupted after a man, Keith Lamont Scott, was shot by police after he allegedly was carrying a gun. Some have–mistakenly according to police–believed that Scott had a book, not a gun, in his vehicle when a police officer shot him. But authorities have said that they confiscated a gun–and didn’t find a book–in the vehicle.

Native American Protests Turn Violent in North Dakota

Peaceful demonstrations turned violent Saturday when protesters clashed with construction workers regarding a proposed North Dakota pipeline. This was the latest escalation in an ongoing fight between workers involved in the creation of the pipeline and Native American tribes.

21 Officers Injured as St. Paul Freeway Protest Turns Violent

Twenty-one officers from various Minnesota law enforcement agencies were injured and more than 102 protestors were arrested as a demonstration on the I-94 freeway in St. Paul turned violent Saturday night, with protestors hurling rocks, bottles. fireworks and bricks at law enforcement officers on the scene.

Wiretaps Reveal Brazil President’s Plan to Protect Predecessor with Minister Job

The judge presiding over a massive corruption probe into Brazil’s state-run oil corporation has released audio of wiretaps in which President Dilma Rousseff is heard telling her predecessor, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, that she has a plan in place to grant him government immunity should prosecutors build a strong enough case to send him to jail on corruption charges.

Arrests at Protests over Chicago Police Video

Chicago police have reportedly made three arrests–thus far–at demonstrations that broke out Tuesday evening following the release of a video showing the shooting death of 17-year-old Laquon McDonald last October. McDonald was shot 16 times by Officer James Van Dyke, who was recently charged with murder.
