The Saudi government has assumed managerial control of the enormous Saudi Binladin Group, the largest construction company in the nation, and may nationalize some of the group’s assets. The move is part of an anti-corruption crackdown that some view as an effort to grab money and resources for a once-profligate government in deep financial trouble, and a consolidation of power by the recently-named heir to the throne, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Bin Laden’s Son Urges Saudis to Train with Al Qaeda to Overthrow Kingdom

Hamza bin Laden, the son of the late al Qaeda leader, has urged young Saudis in a new audio message to train with al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) to “gain the necessary experience” to overthrow Saudi Arabia’s kingdom, a U.S. ally, according to the SITE Intelligence Group, which tracks jihadi activity online.

U.S. Applies Sanctions Against Top Al-Qaeda Leaders in Iran

The U.S. government has added three senior al-Qaeda leaders based in Iran to the Treasury Department list of “Specially Designated Global Terrorists,” which means they will be subject to sanctions even as President Obama’s nuclear deal pours billions of dollars into Iran’s coffers.
