Texas House Committee Moves Open Carry and Concealed Carry Bills Closer to Passage

Legislation to allow open carry by people licensed to carry concealed handguns and the authorization to carry concealed handguns on college campuses moved closer to passage after testimony was heard in a Texas House committee. Homeland Security and Public Safety Chairman Larry Phillips (R-Sherman) held two sessions for public testimony on Tuesday.

HuffPo: NRA Keeps ‘Embarrassing’ Gun Control Lobby

On Wednesday, the day after the ATF scrapped its proposed AR-15 ammo ban, the Huffington Post (HuffPo) ran an article claiming one of the reasons the gun control lobby suffers “embarrassing loss” after “embarrassing loss” is because they spend their energies passing sloppy laws and then trying to enforce those laws in an offensive manner.

Slate: Not Fair to Say Gabby Giffords’ Attacker Passed Background Check

On March 4, Gabby Giffords joined with Democrat lawmakers on Capitol Hill to push for background checks at gun shows as a way of “stopping violence.” The NRA responded by tweeting a Breitbart News report which pointed out that Giffords’s January 2011 attacker—Jared Loughner—passed a background check to acquire the Glock with which he carried out his attack.
