WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court will allow absentee ballots in North Carolina to be received and counted up to nine days after Election Day.

President Donald Trump’s deputies have launched a fundamental reform of the H-1B visa system to protect American graduates from outsourcing — despite furious opposition from donors and leaders from Silicon Valley, Fortune 500 companies, and coastal investors.

The Supreme Court has voted 5-3 to deny a request by Republicans to overturn a decision by Democratic authorities in North Carolina to allow mail-in ballots to be counted nine days after Election Day and without a witness signature.

Absentee ballots cast in North Carolina, a category that includes in-person early voting and mail-in voting, already exceeds the total number of absentee ballots cast in 2016 with five days to go until in person early voting ends on Saturday.

President Trump is leading in battleground North Carolina, a Trafalgar Group survey released Sunday showed.

“People in cars…I don’t get it,” Trump said, mocking the size of the rally. “There were so few cars that I’ve never seen an audience like this.”

North Carolina is a critical swing state where many white-collar voters are losing their jobs to H-1B visa workers — yet President Donald Trump did not tout his popular reforms of the visa worker programs.
