Former Deputy National Security Adviser of the United States Matthew Pottinger said during the first China Select Committee hearing that Chinese company-linked platforms, such as TikTok, “gives the Chinese Communist Party the ability to manipulate our social discourse.”
Matthew Pottinger, a former national security advisor to President Trump, revealed in Senate testimony this week that the Chinese Communist Party has enough stolen data on American citizens to “build a dossier on every single American adult.”
Ezra Cohen-Watnick, a defense intelligence veteran and former Trump National Security Council aide, is headed back to the Pentagon to serve as deputy assistant secretary of defense for counternarcotics and global threats.
While the administration is ramping up the rhetoric against China, they are also watching to make sure China maintains the first phase trade deal signed in January.
White House chief deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley on Tuesday said that President Donald Trump is planning to hold China accountable for the Wuhan coronavirus plaguing the planet, saying the administration views China as “culpable” and is “not going to forget” what the Communist authorities in Beijing did to the world.
“When small acts of bravery are stamped out by governments, big acts of bravery follow,” Pottinger said.
