Tucson Reclaims Position as Busiest Migrant Border Crossing Sector

After a short reprieve from the earlier migrant surge, the Tucson Sector has reclaimed the number-one spot for migrant encounters along the southwest border with Mexico. Apprehensions of migrants illegally crossing the border between ports of entry surged this week to approximately 7,400. San Diego Sector apprehensions fell to just over 6,000.

17K Migrants Apprehended in One Week in Single Arizona Border Sector

The migrant surge continues to increase in the Tucson Sector where agents apprehended more than 17,000 migrants during the last week of November. Since the new fiscal year began on October 1, Tucson Sector agents encountered nearly 119,000 migrants, according to unofficial Border Patrol reports reviewed by Breitbart Texas.

According to a source within Customs and Border Protection, Border Patrol agents in the Tucson Sector have been exclusively relegated to processing and caring for the wave of migrants crossing into the sector in recent days. Facing overcrowding at migrant processing facilities in the sector, the source says most non-essential details have been eliminated to re-direct all Border Patrol agents to the task of accommodating the overwhelming number of migrants in custody.

Border Patrol Agent in Arizona Dies in On-Duty ATV Crash

A Border Patrol agent died in the line of duty in Douglas, Arizona, after an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) he was driving collided with a light pole. The agent was identified as 44-year-old Freddy Ortiz, a veteran agent with over a decade of service to his country. Ortiz was responding to a call regarding suspected migrant activity on Tuesday evening when the accident occurred near Chino Road and International Avenue.
