Uzbekistan Blames Indian Cough Syrup for 18 Child Deaths

The Health Ministry of Uzbekistan on Wednesday blamed a cough syrup called Doc-1 Max, produced by a company in India called Marion Biotech, for the deaths of at least 18 children. Marion Biotech said it has halted production of the suspect medicine and is awaiting the results of an official inquiry.

Report: Russia Becomes India’s Top Oil Supplier

Cargo data cited by The Hindu on Sunday showed Russia has become the top supplier of oil to India, with deliveries accounting for 22 percent of India’s total crude imports, vaulting past Iran with just over 20 percent and Saudi Arabia with 16 percent.

‘Massive Corruption’: 9 Arrested for India Bridge Collapse Killing 135

Police in the Indian state of Gujarat arrested nine people Monday in connection with the collapse of the pedestrian suspension bridge in the town of Morbi, which collapsed on Sunday, sending its many occupants tumbling over 30 feet into the fast-moving Machchhu river. The official death toll from the catastrophe stands at 135, but the search for more bodies continues.
