For the 12th consecutive year, Chief Executive Magazine named Texas the nation’s best state for business. This year’s accolades come at a time when even more businesses either expanded their operations or relocated their headquarters to the Lone Star State.

Texas Leads Nation in Refugee Resettlement

Texas leads the nation in refugee resettlement despite objections from the governor and a lawsuit from the state. The Lone Star State is now home to 2,677 refugees who have been settled in the state since October 2015. While Texas is followed closely by California, who has resettled 2,654 refugees, the next closest state is Washington with about half that resettled in Texas, according to information obtained from the U.S. Department of State by Breitbart Texas.

Federal Judge Says Texas Can’t Outlaw Harboring Illegal Aliens

A federal district judge in San Antonio has issued an order stopping a Texas law criminalizing the harboring of illegal aliens, at least for now. The judge issued the preliminary injunction in MALDEF’s (Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund) lawsuit challenging Texas House Bill 11, a law which open border advocates are fighting because they say it improperly targets illegal alien shelters and those who rent to illegal aliens.

Texas Governor Addresses CPS Horrors and Abuses

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has appointed a former chief of the Texas Rangers as new Commissioner of the disgraced Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). DFPS is the agency responsible for protecting abused and neglected children in the state. Breitbart Texas has reported about the abuses, problems, and overreach in the agency, particularly among CPS caseworkers. DFPS is also referred to as Child Protective Services or “CPS.” There have been horrific abuses of children who are in the state’s foster care system.

Obama Touts Government Services at SxSW, Denies Disaster Aid to Texans

President Barack Obama was in Texas on Friday attending the annual SxSW event where he told millennials and others that government “does great things” because it “is delivering for everybody in this room.” His lecture was to those “who despise every level of government.” He did not tell the Texans who had their homes and businesses destroyed and damaged from severe weather and fires that he has denied them financial assistance.

Governor Presents Texas Purple Heart to Fort Hood Terrorist Victims

Governor Greg Abbott presented the newly authorized Texas Purple Heart to Fort Hood soldiers who survived the 2009 terrorist attack and to the families who lost their loved ones on that tragic day. A new memorial to honor all of those who were affected on that day was also unveiled.

California’s McKesson Corporation Brings 1,000 New Jobs to Texas

San Francisco-based McKesson Corporation, the latest California company coming to the Lone Star State, plans to invest $157 million in a North Texas regional center. The move is part of an organizational consolidation and expansion plan expected to add nearly 1,000 new jobs. The Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) will kick in $9.75 million to the venture.
