Critics Warn of Woke Disney’s Plan to Monopolize Sports Streaming

Antitrust experts are raising alarm bells as entertainment giant Disney aims to control over 80 percent of nationally broadcast sporting events through joint venture with Fox and Warner. The CEO of competing platform Fubo says that Disney “has consistently engaged in anticompetitive practices that aim to monopolize the market, stifle any form of competition, create higher pricing for subscribers and cheat consumers from deserved choice.”

GLAAD Blasts Super Bowl Commercials for ‘Minimal’ LGBTQ Representation

The folks over at GLAAD clearly didn’t have a good time watching the Super Bowl on Sunday. The organization has blasted this year’s line up of commercials for their “minimal” LGBTQ representation, saying brands need to do more to “put LGBTQ people and issues into the mainstream conversation.”

A century later, during another pandemic, movies — quotes no longer necessary — are again facing a critical juncture. But it’s not because new films haven’t been coming out. By streaming service, video-on-demand, virtual theater or actual theater, a steady diet of films have been released under COVID-19 every week. The Times has reviewed more than 460 new movies since mid-March.
