Border Patrol agents in Eagle Pass, Texas, and Texas DPS troopers apprehended more than 2,000 migrants by early afternoon on Thursday. These migrants add to the more than 20,000 migrants in U.S. Border Patrol custody along the entire border.

Border Patrol agents recovered the body of a three-year-old migrant child who drowned while crossing the Texas border river with Mexico on Wednesday near Eagle Pass, Texas. A second migrant, an adult, drowned within 24 hours in the same area. The recovery of the second body is underway Thursday morning.

Law enforcement sources confirmed to Breitbart Texas on Thursday that another 3,000 migrants arrived in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, and are poised to cross the Biden administration’s “closed border.” Migrants began crossing the Rio Grande again Thursday morning to enter Eagle Pass, Texas.

Border Patrol agents apprehended approximately 7,000 migrants during the past three days, according to sources operating within U.S. Customs and Border Protection. This includes the approximately 3,000 migrants crossing on Wednesday morning.

Up to 3,000 migrants are being staged in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, and are preparing to cross the border into Eagle Pass, Texas, on Wednesday. Breitbart Texas watched as hundreds of migrants began to form groups and crossed the Rio Grande into the United States.

A migrant released by the Biden administration to pursue an asylum claim was arrested by Texas Rangers as a suspect in the murder of a Houston man in Eagle Pass, Texas, on Monday. According to a source within CBP, the murder suspect, Roberto Emilio Vasquez-Santamaria, a 64-year-old Peruvian national, was released by Border Patrol to a non-government shelter in the city on May 9, 2023.

A local non-government church-run shelter forced migrants without sufficient funds to cover their transportation costs out onto the streets of Eagle Pass, Texas. Breitbart Texas spoke to multiple groups of mostly Venezuelan migrants who left the border city on foot, hoping to reach San Antonio — a march of more than 150 miles.

In one single day, one Border Patrol station in the small Texas border town of Eagle Pass apprehended more migrants than all ten stations in the El Paso Sector combined. According to a source within CBP, more than 1,300 migrants were apprehended on Friday in the small border town. This compares to 1,100 for eleven El Paso Border Patrol Sector stations combined. The surge quickly overwhelmed a local Border Patrol processing facility and the ability of non-government (NGO) shelters to accommodate the surge.

A group of Mexican firefighters rescued a Venezuelan migrant who was drowning after being caught in the strong currents of the Rio Grande. The rescue comes at a time when the Coahuila-Texas border region continues to experience a high number of migrant fatalities.

In what has become an almost daily occurrence, a large group of more than 100 migrants crossed the Rio Grande just north of Eagle Pass to surrender to awaiting Border Patrol agents during the early morning hours on Friday. Shortly after 4:00 a.m., Breitbart Texas watched as the large group of mostly family unit migrants approached a rallying point staffed by the Border Patrol, where they surrendered to claim asylum.

The Biden administration continues releasing migrants in the Texas border town of Eagle Pass. This is despite repeated claims by the administration that the border is “not open.”

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers rescued two young migrant children who had been abandoned in a brushy area by human smugglers along the Rio Grande border with Mexico. The children, who are four and seven years old, only had a sheet of paper with a contact number for two relatives in Alabama.

Four non-border-state governors joined Texas Governor Greg Abbott for a tour of one of the busiest border crossing regions in the country. The governors traveled to the Rio Grande to see first-hand the results of their states’ contributions to the Texas border security mission.

A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) drone operator spotted what appears to be an armed migrant smuggler guiding a group of migrants into the United States. The incident occurred in downtown Eagle Pass upstream of a floating buoy barrier that was put in place to prevent or divert migrant crossings. The footage captured by the drone operator shows the migrant smuggler carrying what the agency describes as a long gun as he guides a group of eleven migrants across the Rio Grande on Thursday.

The Eagle Pass City Council voted unanimously to rescind an agreement with the State of Texas designating a public park as private property under the control of the Department of Public Safety. The designation allowed Texas law enforcement authorities to post “Private Property” signs within the park and facilitated the prosecution of migrants for criminal trespass. 

International ports of entry in Eagle Pass, Texas, were closed for nearly one hour after a group of nearly 50, mostly Venezuelan migrants, attempted to force their way through one of the ports to claim asylum. According to a source within CBP, the group of migrants forced their way onto Bridge One but were repelled by CBP Office of Field Operations personnel who closed the gates and shut down all traffic on Tuesday evening.

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper arrested a migrant near Eagle Pass for allegedly smuggling a group of migrants to Houston. The group included two children being smuggled to San Antonio.

Authorities in the Mexican border state of Coahuila reported at least 79 migrant deaths so far this year. The region continues to be a border crossing hotspot and one of the busiest human smuggling and human trafficking corridors in the nation.

Police in the border town of Eagle Pass, Texas, observed a migrant tossing a one-year-old little girl into the Rio Grande while crossing the border from Mexico. Police say they witnessed the child going completely underwater in a life-threatening situation.

Several groups of migrants crossed the Rio Grande, immediately surrendering to authorities. Texas Highway Patrol troopers are using innovative techniques to reduce the migrant flow at one of the busiest border crossing spots in the nation. In addition to plans to construct a floating border barrier in the area, the agency is using drones and its Tactical Marine Unit (TMU) to arrest migrant smugglers in mid-river in the Rio Grande. On Tuesday, the unit surprised one suspected smuggler who was caught unaware of the airboat’s swift approach.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers recovered the bodies of four migrants from the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass. The drowning victims included an infant who was carried into the border river. The drownings occurred in three separate incidents over a 48-hour period.

A potential tragedy was averted in the small border city of Eagle Pass, Texas, when Maverick County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped a tractor-trailer on Thursday. After noting suspicious behavior by the truck driver and noises coming from the trailer, the deputies searched the pneumatic tank trailer being towed by the driver and located 18 migrants sealed inside.

The blistering heat along the Texas border in the Del Rio Sector claimed the lives of at least four migrants during a 24-hour period this week. The weather forecast calls for high temperatures above 105° Fahrenheit for at least the next week.

A U.S. National Guard soldier deployed to the Texas border by the Biden administration is seen in a video unlocking a border barrier gate to allow a large group of migrants to enter. The soldier is not a member of the Texas National Guard deployed by Governor Greg Abbott, officials stated.

On Monday, Haley met with law enforcement officers, private business owners, and border residents who gave the candidate their take on the continuing border crisis. Haley, accompanied by Representative Tony Gonzales (R-TX), began the border tour with stops in Del Rio and Eagle Pass, Texas, two of the busiest areas for migrant crossings in the nation.

Police and family members are engaged in a desperate search for a missing 24-year-old correctional officer in the border community of Eagle Pass. Evelyn Guardado, 24, went missing shortly after 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 31, after leaving the GEO Group Incorporated Correctional Facility where she is employed.

Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended nearly 7,000 migrants along the Texas border with Mexico last week. In addition, another 3,400 migrants got away without being apprehended.
