Eagle Scout Charged in Utah Opioid Distribution Scheme

The trial for a former Eagle Scout accused of making millions of dollars in an online opioid distribution scheme faced a Utah jury on Monday. He is accused of importing fentanyl from China and then making knockoff oxycodone and Xanax pills.

Venezuela Court Forces Publication to Pay $4.7 Million to Alleged Socialist Drug Lord

Venezuela’s Supreme Court, run by loyalists to socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro, ordered the online news outlet La Patilla to pay senior chavista official, television show host, and alleged cartel chief Diosdado Cabello 30 billion bolivars ($4.7 million) for aggregating a 2015 article in which Hugo Chávez’s former security chief accused Cabello of drug trafficking.

Sinaloa Cartel-Linked Meth Ring Busted in California

Police in southern California announced on Friday the arrests of two men linked to the Mexican-based Sinaloa Cartel. The men allegedly operated a drug-trafficking cell in Apple Valley, California. The multi-agency investigation also led to the seizure of 500 pounds of methamphetamine worth $1.25 million dollars.

1,000 Pounds of Meth Seized by Mexican Authorities

Elements of the Mexican Federal Police, Mexican Army, and Mexican Navy seized more than 1045 pounds of methamphetamine and 3.5 tons (7054.7 pounds) of marijuana. The seizures took place in three separate operations during the last week in the northern Mexican border states of Baja California and Sonora.

Arizona Police, Feds Seize 45,000 Fentanyl Pills in Two Operations

Two separate investigations by Phoenix Police Narcotics and a Joint Bureau of Indian Affairs and Drug Enforcement Agency operation resulted in the seizure of 45,000 fentanyl pills this past week. One incident occurred in west Phoenix while the second took place on an Indian reservation that sits on the U.S.-Mexico border.
