U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officers seized nearly $2 million in narcotics and other drugs being smuggled into Texas from Mexico over the weekend.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents at the Eagle Pass port of entry stopped the attempted smuggling of a child and seized $1 million in hard narcotics.

MCALLEN, Texas — Authorities in this border city are warning travelers about a series of ointments that have peyote and marijuana as their main ingredients. The drugs are being seized at border entry points from individuals who may not have been aware that they were smuggling actual drugs.

A Fayette County deputy sheriff who specialized in drug interdiction on a rural Texas interstate highway seized $1.3 million worth of methamphetamine on Tuesday. This follows a $1.6 million seizure made by the same deputy and his K-9 partner “Lobos” on July 12.

MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas – Mexican Federales responding to a serious car crash just south of this border city ended up seizing 25 kilograms of cocaine hidden in the vehicle’s airbag compartment. The suspected smugglers died as a result of the crash.

A drug smuggler who picked up a drug load from the banks of the Rio Grande River on the Texas border was on his way north ended up crashing into the water and swimming back into Mexico to get away from authorities.
