ROME (AP) — An Italian court late Saturday convicted four African men in the drugging, aggravated sexual assault and murder of an Italian teen in Rome, a crime that spurred calls in Italy for quick expulsions of migrants illegally living in in the country, state TV and private Italian media said.
Four African migrants face charges of voluntary homicide, aggravated sexual violence, and distribution of illegal narcotics to a minor, one year after teen Desirée Mariottini was found dead in Rome.
A Facebook page belonging to a far-left Italian group has said that 16-year-old Desirèe Mariottini was “lucky” after being drugged, raped, and murdered, allegedly by a group of migrants, because she’s seen as a victim.
Italian police have arrested three migrant men, two Senegalese and one Nigerian, in connection with the alleged drugging, rape, and murder of 16-year-old Desirée Mariottini.
