EAGLE PASS, Texas — Border Patrol agents on routine patrol were noticeably absent Tuesday. Agents say they were removed from regular duties and relegated exclusively to processing and caring for thousands of migrants detained at temporary holding facilities in the region.

A source within Customs and Border Protection says Border Patrol detention facilities within the Del Rio Sector of Texas are again dangerously overcrowded. On Friday, one facility, designed to hold 500 migrants, contains at least 2,000 mostly Cubans. The typically single adult detainees are being processed and most likely will be released into the United States, according to the source.

Border Patrol Finds Body of 4-Year-Old Migrant Child in Rio Grande

EAGLE PASS, Texas — Border Patrol agents discovered the body of a 4-year-old Nicaraguan migrant child missing since March 5 after her 32-year-old mother dropped the child into the current as she crossed the Rio Grande. Agents assigned to the marine unit discovered the body Thursday, several miles from where the child was dropped. A local funeral home is reportedly arranging to transfer the body to her mother’s new residence in Florida.

Small Migrant Child Drowns in Texas Border River, Swept from Mother’s Arms

A four-year-old Nicaraguan migrant child is believed to have drowned after his 32-year-old mother dropped him as she crossed the Rio Grande. The mother lost the little boy as she crossed the swiftly moving border river just south of Eagle Pass, Texas early Saturday morning. Border Patrol agents continue to search for the child with negative results.

State of Texas Makes Deal to Build Border Fence on Tribal Lands

EAGLE PASS, Texas — A new section of border fence is expected to go up locally as the result of a partnership between the State and the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas. The new section, constructed by the Texas Military Department, will be located south of Eagle Pass on tribal lands.

DEL RIO, Texas — Border Patrol agents in Eagle Pass located two unaccompanied migrant toddlers among a group of unrelated migrants arrested near the banks of the Rio Grande Wednesday. The one and four-year-old are two of the more than 300 encountered by Border Patrol that day.
