The Hill connects ongoing conflict among staff at the Environmental Protection Agency to a press release on President Trump’s executive order on energy independence Tuesday that included a quote slamming the president’s new policy.

As part of that process, they attempt to restrict its historical application to some definition that delimits its use against their ideological interest. Their attempt to rescript the meaning of words gives new meaning to Orwellian for the media’s would-be Ministry of Information.

As more voices weigh in on the issue of the Deep State, the Beltway left assures us it’s all a figment of our fevered imaginations.

New York Times columnist Max Fisher, in a piece titled “What Happens When You Fight a ‘Deep State’ That Doesn’t Exist,” whines that President Donald Trump and populist conservatives have appropriated the term “Deep State” — just like the briefly trendy buzzword of “fake news.”

We have another update on the Deep State’s activities, this time thanks to another leak from the Department of Homeland Security. On March 2, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow had a scoop—paid for, of course, by American taxpayers.

On Friday’s Breitbart News Daily, SiriusXM host Alex Marlow asked attorney Robert Barnes about the campaign of leaks to damage the Trump administration, described by some observers as “deep state” career bureaucrats and/or holdovers from the Obama administration acting as saboteurs. Marlow wondered if there was any legal recourse for the Trump administration to halt this operation.

Josh Dawsey reports in Politico that President Trump’s advisers are urging him to “purge” the remaining Obama appointees who are likely responsible for the “gush of leaks” plaguing the new administration.

The Deep State never sleeps. It’s always doing something. Doing something, that is, to undermine the Trump administration. And sometimes, in its zeal to de-Trumpify its home turf of Washington, DC, it jeopardizes American national security. The Deep State doesn’t seem to care much about that, but maybe the rest of us should.

The feud between President Donald Trump and Senator John McCain is heating up. The protagonists on both sides of this fight are intense and determined, and yet if we dig beneath the personalities, we can see an even deeper conflict—an ultimate conflict of visions. And that clash of worldviews, in turn, is full of implications for the behavior of the Deep State in the months and years to come.

The complex of bureaucrats, technocrats, and plutocrats that we call the Deep State is seeking to torpedo Trump and his agenda. The last thing the Deep State wants to see is the DC swamp being drained. To them, it’s home! Last week, their permanent campaign against Trump heated up, and the flashpoint was a dubious dossier that had been floating around for months.

It’s possible, perhaps even likely, that under President Trump we will once again become a nation for all Americans—even Middle Americans. We could yet be the “city on a hill” that Ronald Reagan so eloquent described. That is, a true center-right “Team America,” united in its determination to work hard and do well, with US citizens coming first. Of course, not everyone thinks that what happened on Election Day 2016 was a beautiful thing, because they have been living their lives according to a vision much different than Trump’s economic nationalism.

The American politician, a presidential aspirant, was explicit in his secret-but-audacious message to the Russian leadership in Moscow: Help me win the White House, and then, once I’m in the Oval Office, I will return the favor.

Do the Democrats want Donald Trump to become the 45th president? Of course not. And how about the Democrats’ handmaiden, the Main Stream Media? Do they want Trump in the White House? Of course not. And how ‘bout all the other affluent residents of the Washington “swamp,” which Trump has pledged to drain—do you think any of them want Trump? Of course not. Together, these anti-Trump constituencies help form what has been called the Deep State.
