New Dallas County Mail Ballot Rules Do Little to Curb Voter Fraud, Say Experts

The Dallas County Commissioners Court voted Tuesday to limit the number of mail-in ballots individuals may submit in future elections after two hotly contested Democrat city council seat races threw a May 2017 election into a tailspin over absentee ballot irregularities. However, these new caps actually do little to curb voter fraud, some experts say.

Dallas Proclaims Itself First ‘U.N. Human Rights County’ in Texas

Dallas proclaimed itself the first “human rights county” in Texas. The commissioners court embraced the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, an initiative that claims to cultivate communities worldwide, although the Geneva-based Human Rights Council (HRC) has come under fire for anti-Israel bias and member countries with poor records.

Dallas County Votes to ‘End Nonessential Collaborations’ with ICE

On the same day that the Texas State Senate voted to cut funds for sanctuary cities, the commissioners court of Dallas County passed the “Welcoming Communities” resolution. Officials have voted to “end nonessential collaborations” with U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Immigration Enforcement (ICE) divison.

10 Pregnant Women Test Positive for Zika Virus in Dallas

Ten pregnant women tested positive with preliminary testing for Zika in Dallas County. The good news is they all contracted the virus outside of the United States. Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) Director Zachary Thompson announced 10 pregnant women traveled to Zika hot spots and got infected with the virus. Thompson spoke to the Dallas County Commissioners Court, the Dallas Morning News reported Tuesday.
