A court of appeals ordered payments to the special prosecutors stopped, and in an unrelated criminal case, a federal judge removed one of the prosecutors from representing his client, a member of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club, because he had a conflict of interest.

Taxpayer Outcry for Texas AG Prosecution Expenses Brings Policy Shift

The commissioners court in Collin County, Texas unanimously passed a resolution which governs how the court will look at attorney fees in the prosecution case of the Texas Attorney General. The resolution is a policy shift for some of the commissioners. The action was taken after persistent and strident outcry by taxpayers, and after concern was expressed by area state representatives and a state senator.

County Flip-Flops Over Paying Legal Fees in Prosecuting Texas AG

It seems that some county officials in Collin County, Texas, knowingly, or inadvertently, have taken inconsistent positions over the power of the judiciary to interfere with their governing powers. They took one position in May in a brief to the Texas Supreme Court, but some of them are now taking the opposite position when making a decision about paying what could end up being over a million dollars for prosecuting the Texas Attorney General.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a civil lawsuit against Texas Attorney General (AG) Ken Paxton and others on Monday, just one week to the day before the Texas AG will represent Texas and lead more than half the states in the nation at the U.S. Supreme Court in the executive amnesty case, the United States v. Texas. The federal government is appealing their loss in the lower district court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. The Attorney General of Texas told Breitbart Texas, “That’s just creative timing by the Obama administration to file a lawsuit one week before I lead a twenty-six state coalition against his illegal immigration order.”

Texas AG Pleads Not Guilty, Attorney Withdraws

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton stood before Judge George Gallagher in a state district court in Tarrant County and the AG pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges leveled against him. Moments later, Paxton’s criminal defense attorney, Joe Kendall, filed a motion to withdraw from representing Paxton in the proceedings.
