PIEDRAS NEGRAS, Coahuila — A Mexican appeals court has ordered the release of nine police officers from this border city that had been convicted of working for Los Zetas, the murderous Mexican drug cartel controlling portions of the Texas-Mexico border.

The attempted murder was not covered by local news outlets since drug cartels like Los Zetas in Coahuila and the Gulf Cartel in Tamaulipas have managed to place a gag on violent activity.
A ranch worker in this border city has been accused of having beaten his wife to death and then going to sleep. Coahuila State authorities arrested 59-year-old Cruz Martinez Castillo who stated that he used a club to murder his wife, 69-year-old Maria de Jesus Hernandez.
