Roof obtained his gun “legally,” so calls for gun control have largely fallen on deaf ears. But a photo of Roof posing with a Confederate battle flag has managed to become the impetus for a cause célèbre to banish the Confederate battle flag from public view.

The latest report from the United Nations on South Sudan states the armed forces raped and burned females alive. The world’s newest country is still in a civil war.

On June 26, Alabama Flag & Banner began making Confederate flags in-house, after “a manufacturer decided to no longer supply Confederate flags to [the] business.”

A 71-year-old man in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, has installed 150 Confederate battle flags around his house, and he’s not about to take them down.

On June 26 the Gettysburg National Military Park bookstore announced they have removed items from shelves “featuring the Confederate flag” and will no longer sell such products.

Al-Jazeera reports that a brainstorm by the Syrian state news agency, SANA, to boost the image of that war-torn nation—and its dictatorship—did not pan out. SANA’s English-language division asked its Twitter following to contribute photos to a #SummerInSyria hashtag.

In the tragic shooting deaths of nine African Americans, once again some in the press along with political leadership and even business leadership are attempting to turn a tragedy into a shameful opportunity to destroy an important part of American history.

The left’s crusade on American history continues as New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu calls for the removal of a monument to Confederate General Robert E. Lee that has stood since 1884.
