$14 Million in Meth Seized at Texas Border Crossing

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized a half a ton of methamphetamine estimated to be worth more than $14 million dollars as smugglers attempted to move the drugs through a South Texas border crossing. The smugglers allegedly concealed the methamphetamine within a commercial shipment of fresh produce this past Wednesday.

CBP Aircrews Seized $140M in Cocaine During Shutdown

P-3 Orion aircrews assigned to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations (AMO) unit in Corpus Christi, Texas, seized more than $140 million in cocaine during the partial government shutdown that ended in January. A total of 49 missions flown during the 35 days resulted in the stopping of nearly 11,000 pounds of cocaine from reaching U.S. shores.

Feds Ink Second Contract for Border Walls in South Texas

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced the awarding of a second contract to begin construction of new border walls in the Rio Grande Valley Sector. Assaults on Border Patrol agents fell by 17 percent this fiscal year when compared to the same period last year. This is the first time since 2014 where the numbers fell from one year to the next. The decrease appears to coincide with announcements from the Justice Department that assaults on Border Patrol agents will be aggressively prosecuted.

19 Migrants Abandoned by Smugglers in Arizona Desert

Border Patrol agents in southern Arizona prevented the deaths of 19 illegal immigrants after human smugglers abandoned them in the desert on Sunday morning. BORSTAR agents provided emergency medical assistance to one of the men who had to be transported by air ambulance to a hospital. Seven other migrants set off an emergency beacon prompting their rescue and 11 were found wandering lost in the desert.

Two Sex Offenders Arrested Crossing Border from Mexico

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested a Texas man who is on the Texas Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) “10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders List” as he re-entered the U.S. from Mexico. One day earlier, Border Patrol agents in Arizona arrested another previously deported child sex offender who illegally crossed the border into Arizona.
