Cartel gunmen kidnapped 21 Mexican migrants that had hoped to cross illegally into Texas. The gunmen had been holding them for ransom for several days in the Mexican border city of Reynosa until the Mexican army rescued them. In a separate raid, authorities arrested 25 other aliens.

El líder del Cártel del Golfo en la ciudad fronteriza de Reynosa, México, ha sido señalado como el responsable de la muerte de un bebé de cuatro meses de edad, que se produjo inmediatamente al otro lado de la frontera con McAllen, Texas. El infante inocente y otras tres personas murieron atropellados después de que sicarios del cártel atacaron un vehículo militar en una calle llena de personas. La camioneta se estrelló contra un puesto de comida y aplastó a la gente. En lugar de asumir la responsabilidad por la muerte del bebé, Julián “Comandante Toro” Loisa Salinas, del Cártel del Golfo, colocó lonas impresas culpando al gobierno por el accidente. Toro también es conocido con el nombre de “Juan Manuel Loisa Salinas”.
