Canada and the United Kingdom are following in the footsteps of the U.S. and Germany in issuing travel warnings about the lack of security conditions in some of Mexico’s famed beach resorts. The warnings highlight the Cozumel area following various cases dealing with explosive devices. The travel warning comes at a time when Mexican beach resorts are expecting to see a spike in visitors for Spring Break and the Holy Week seasons.

The effort was apparently done to make it seem like the current Mexican government was making progress in improving the country’s security conditions.

Top Gulf Cartel Leader Caught in Mexican Border City

MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas — One of the top leaders of Mexico’s Gulf Cartel was captured during a top-secret operation carried out by Mexican Marines in this border city. The drug lord had been singled out as being responsible for the recent rescue of more than 480 kidnapped Central American migrants headed to Texas and beyond.
