Cartel gunmen shot and killed an off-duty municipal police officer from the popular tourist port of Guaymas, Sonora, on Tuesday morning. With this most recent attack, the number of police officers killed in the municipality of Guaymas reached ten since October of 2018.

Cartel gunmen in the Mexican border state of Sonora carried out two separate attacks within 30 minutes this past Saturday. The attacks left five dead, including two police officers and three civilians. The gunmen wounded an additional three police officers and a civilian during the two attacks.

An Israeli DJ performing on tour in Mexico died during an attack by suspected cartel gunmen who fired into the crowd. The attack killed the DJ and an assistant as well leaving two others wounded. The state where the shooting took place is one currently dominated by a faction of Los Zetas.

Authorities in the border state of Nuevo Leon are investigating the shooting death of a state police investigator killed by Mexican federal agents. The shooting took place during a rescue operation in an attempt to save an undercover state police officer who had been kidnapped by a team of gunmen. It remains unclear if the agent was killed in error in a friendly fire situation or if it was intentional and the federal agents were working for one of the cartels that operate in the area.

A team of cartel gunmen in the popular resort city of Cancún ambushed members of the Quintana Roo State Police. The officers traveled along a busy street in a private non-duty vehicle this past Tuesday night.  The brazen attack left one police officer in serious condition and wounded other officers and administrative staff who were also in the vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries. A civilian riding on a motorcycle nearby was also wounded by stray gunfire.

Two separate raids in the border city of Tijuana by federal and state investigative netted 460 pounds of methamphetamine and more than 60 pounds of heroin. The raids also resulted in the seizure of six vehicles and one arrest. 

Stray gunfire from cartel gunmen in the Mexican resort of Cancún struck and killed an 11-year old child. The stray round came from cartel gunmen who had opened fire on an adult male target. Officials transported the child to a local clinic where he died several hours later. 

Mexican authorities confirmed the discovery of at least 35 bodies in a series of mass graves. Officials found the graves in the Mexican state of Jalisco. The state is controlled by the ruthless criminal organization known as Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion.

Cartel gunmen raided a drug house in the border city of Ciudad Juárez and killed four Honduran migrants. The cartel gunmen who stormed the property and opened fire early Friday morning. In addition to the two Central American migrants, two other unidentified victims were wounded and transported to a local hospital in very serious condition.

Mexican police rescued two U.S. citizens who were kidnapped in Mexico. Ministerial Police in the border city of Nogales, Sonora, freed the kidnapped Americans during a police rescue operation. The operation resulted in the arrest of two kidnappers. 

SALTILLO, Coahuila – An attack by cartel gunmen in this border state set off a series of fierce gun battles where nine gunmen died and two police officers sustained multiple injuries.

Cartel gunmen used an armored SUV during a clash with Mexican military forces near the Texas border. The fierce gun battle killed one gunman while authorities managed to arrest four others. The rest of the hitmen managed to escape.

El feroz enfrentamiento mató a un pistolero, mientras que las autoridades lograron arrestar a otros cuatro sicarios. El resto de los miembros del cartel lograron escapar.

Police in Cancún apprehended a leader of a cartel hit-team wanted for multiple killings following a shootout. The gun battle with the ministerial police on Thursday left one female cartel operative dead.

Mexican authorities are investigating the murder of 14 victims, including an infant, during a party in the coastal state of Veracruz. The murder marks the latest episode of violence in a region where cartel gunmen openly challenge Mexico’s government and appear to surpass the capabilities of police agencies.
