The raging cartel war for control of this city resulted in at least 74 officially-counted murders. Many more victims have been incinerated just south of the Texas border. In early May, Breitbart Texas began reporting on rival factions of the Gulf Cartel fighting for control of this border city. The continuing conflicts resulted in convoys of cartel gunmen roaming the streets looking for their rivals.

Mexican authorities captured the top leader of the Knights Templar Cartel after a brief firefight in the Mexican state of Michoacan. The kingpin was previously arrested in 2016 with more than two dozen gunmen but bribed officials to secure a release.

Five Killed in Gulf Cartel Attack on Mexican Border Police

REYNOSA, Tamaulipas — Cartel gunmen tried to ambush a convoy of police officers in this border city setting off a fierce gun battle that killed an innocent taco vendor, three gunmen, one police officer and injured two other cops. State authorities have confirmed the death of 25 individuals since rival factions of the Gulf Cartel went to war last week.

Mexican State Targeting Cartel Front Operations

REYNOSA, Tamaulipas — Mexican authorities are raiding cartel casinos, bars, and seizing unlicensed taxicabs; all part of a concerted effort to target business fronts of the various drug cartels that operate in the state. Authorities seized more than 1460 slot machines throughout the state and seized 26 unlicensed taxicabs.
