On Thursday, at London’s ThundCrit cycling event, two biological males identifying as women took first and second place and then celebrated their “achievement” by kissing on the podium as the third-place winner, an actual female, held her baby.
British Cycling, the national governing body which oversees cycling events in the UK, has banned males identifying as women from women’s cycling events.
Emily Bridges, a 21-year-old transgender cyclist, will not compete in National Omnium Championships against other women, including five-time Olympic champion Dame Laura Kenny, British Cycling announced on Wednesday.
