A Good Week for Big Government, and Big Business

Big Government loves ObamaCare because it subjugates the middle class, making them dependent on handouts to purchase the “affordable” insurance they are forced to buy. It’s not often that you see millions of people in a supposedly free country grabbed by the seat of their pants and thrown head-first into welfare dependency.

Q1 GDP Revised Down to Negative Growth; Old Man Winter Blamed Once Again

Another way to interpret this perpetual excuse-making about cold winters and unpredictable variables is that Obama’s central-planning gurus didn’t leave the free-market economy with enough strength and freedom of action to deal with setbacks. The crushing burden of carrying our insanely expensive, corrupt, incompetent central government leaves businesses with insufficient capital and limited options to either exploit opportunity, or prepare for reversals.

Big Government: The Cause Of, and Solution To, All Problems

Just as the last Republican in Detroit or Baltimore will be blamed for every problem faced by those troubled cities, despite generations of unchallenged Democrat rule; just as the public education system will never have enough money, no matter how lavish its per-pupil expenditures, and disappointing its results; just as the War on Poverty needs fresh financial ammunition, despite spending trillions over the course of decades to negligible effect; so everything wrong with Amtrak will be blamed on whoever resists the next demand for subsidy money.

Obama’s Latest Non-Recovery Chokes Out

We’ve been hearing this ridiculous garbage about cold winters freezing the engines of the mighty Obama growth engine every year for the past six years. The hard, cold truth is that we’ve never had sustained growth under this President’s policies that could do anything more than slow the bleeding in the American workforce. Everything he does, from ObamaCare to his amnesty orders for illegal aliens, is a job-killer. It’s a tribute to the underlying strength of the American economy that we’re not in even worse shape.

The Imperial Bureaucracy Has No Use For Accountability

The really dangerous development of the administrative state is that bureaucrats no longer fear the wrath of our elected representatives, many of whom are so interested in making the State bigger and richer that they’ll no longer countenance even token attempts at holding it responsible for its actions, because that would empower the people who want to make it smaller.

The Left Is Tired Of Persuasion

Liberalism doesn’t have anything exciting or new to offer – even its plans for the Internet are drawn from 1930s telephone legislation. Yet the left has been very successful at imposing its ideas despite the clear will of voters – and reversing its policies will be difficult.

‘Reformocons’ Struggle to Define Their Movement As Something Better Than Capitulation To Liberalism

The “Reformocon” movement won’t gain ground unless it realizes that the market is the best way to help people. The poor don’t need handouts from a more efficient version of the Mommy State to “reap the benefits of competition” – the incredibly low cost and high quality of the goods and services they enjoy, from inexpensive and abundant food to the low-cost shopping experience of Wal-Mart, have done more to improve their lives than easily-abused Big Government welfare programs.
