7 Arrested, 11Migrants Hospitalized in Texas Human Smuggling Scheme

Bexar County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested seven people involved in an alleged migrant smuggling scheme that saw 11 migrants taken to a hospital in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday. The migrants were discovered hidden in a concealed compartment in a goose-neck trailer outside a south San Antonio stash house. Deputies received a tip reporting the criminal activity earlier in the day and located the trailer as it arrived at the suspected stash house.

Border Patrol Reports 2,600 Migrant Apprehensions per Day — Just in 3 Sectors

Border Patrol chiefs in three sectors of the southwest border with Mexico report a daily apprehension rate of more than 2,600 per day during their most recent weekly recaps. The reports from these three of the nine southwest border sectors exceed President Joe Biden’s new executive order imposing a cap of 2,500 migrants per day on a seven-day average.

Texas Border Mayor: Biden’s New Immigration Order is About Election-Year Optics

President Joe Biden invited several border city mayors to his signing of an executive order limiting asylum claims at the southwest border on Tuesday. The order allegedly aims to further reduce slower migrant crossing rates that have dropped precipitously since January. One Texas mayor, Rolando Salinas of Eagle Pass, one of the nation’s busiest migrant crossing points during Biden’s first three years in office, was left off the invite list and questions the motive and timing for the president’s newest executive order.

Source: Biden’s Immigration Order Will Normalize 2 Million Migrant Entries Yearly

According to a senior-level Customs and Border Protection source, the latest executive order signed by President Biden on Tuesday will do little more than make Americans grow accustomed to more than 2 million migrant entries into the United States annually. The source, not authorized to speak to the media, says the order will do little to change the landscape of an out-of-control border even if legal challenges by pro-migrant civil rights groups fail to kill the order outright.

FACT CHECK: Did Border Patrol Lose 25 Percent of Agents Under Biden

An article written by the Washington Examiner states in its headline that the “Border Patrol has lost a quarter of [its] workforce since 2020 election.” While the headline and article appear to be technically correct, they leave the impression that there are significantly fewer agents patrolling the border — a conclusion that is not accurate.

Tucson Reclaims Position as Busiest Migrant Border Crossing Sector

After a short reprieve from the earlier migrant surge, the Tucson Sector has reclaimed the number-one spot for migrant encounters along the southwest border with Mexico. Apprehensions of migrants illegally crossing the border between ports of entry surged this week to approximately 7,400. San Diego Sector apprehensions fell to just over 6,000.

WATCH: Migrants Scale Federal Walls at Opposite Ends of Texas Border

Videos provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety show migrants breaching federal border walls at opposite ends of the state’s border with Mexico. In El Paso, migrants became aggressive when confronted by Border Patrol agents. In McAllen, smugglers ferried a ladder across the Rio Grand to scale a border wall.

WATCH: Biden Admin’s Secret Border Deal with Mexico Turns Arizona’s Once Busiest Crossing Point into Ghost Town

Once the busiest crossing point on the southwest border, migrant crossings in Lukeville have slowed significantly since an election-year deal was struck with Mexico in December. A once constantly busy transportation rally point used by the Border Patrol to stage migrants in the Organ Pipe National Monument now sits empty on most days. Where thousands of migrants once crossed each day, now, a few hundred migrants cross and are swiftly transported away from the border wall area.

Texas Democrat Judge Dismisses 211 Border Rioting Charges Filed Against Migrants

In a setback to the prosecution of migrants involved in a massive border breach in March, El Paso County Court at Law #7 Judge Ruben Morales dismissed 211 individual cases involving migrants charged with rioting at a border crossing. According to Morales, a procedural error transferring the cases from the local district court to his county court meant he lacked jurisdiction and was obligated to dismiss the charges.

WATCH: Texas Guards Border as Mexicans Celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Banks of Rio Grande

Cinco de Mayo proved relatively uneventful as illegal border crossings near El Paso have slowed in recent months. On Sunday, Breitbart Texas moved along the border between Texas and New Mexico, observing what seemed to be a quiet day on the heavily guarded U.S. side of the border as residents in Mexico celebrated the holiday.  As the soldiers, Highway Patrol troopers, and Border Patrol agents guarded the Rio Grande’s U.S. bank, Juarez residents basked in the sun and swam in the narrow border river.
