It seemed destined to happen and Marvel’s “Avengers: Endgame” has finally toppled “Avatar” as the highest grossing box office movie of all-time, earning over $2.7897 billion.

Disney’s Aladdin, starring Will Smith, took a magic carpet ride to number one with a toe-curling, four-day opening take of $112.7 million box office.

The domestic box office was not supposed to look like this going into Memorial Day of 2019, and it doesn’t look as though this Memorial weekend is going to be a barn burner.

“Avengers: Endgame” star Mark Ruffalo took to Twitter on Monday to promote his own Marvel licensed t-shirt, for which proceeds go toward the “fight for climate justice.”

NEW YORK (AP) — The universe belongs to Marvel. “Avengers: Endgame” shattered the record for biggest opening weekend with an estimated $350 million in ticket sales domestically and $1.2 billion globally, reaching a new pinnacle in the blockbuster era that the comic-book studio has come to dominate.

“Avengers: Endgame” made over a billion dollars worldwide in its first weekend, shattering just about every record the Hollywood publicity machine bothers to keep. That’s because Endgame is more than just Part 2 of a single story, but the culmination of a 22-film series (plus a few short films and loosely-connected TV shows) that racked up almost $20 billion in combined ticket sales.

Avengers: Endgame, the culmination of ten years of Marvel superhero movies, has already smashed the global box office record after only two days in theaters. By Friday, the latest Marvel blockbuster had already made $644 million, making it the biggest opening of any film in history, according to CNN Business.

Far-left actress and activist Brie Larson complained about the lack of diversity in the Marvel movie universe, declaring that producers must “move faster” to address the issue.

Endgame is a true epic, filled with spectacle and purpose. It has something good to say about the world, a real philosophy about the importance of humanity, family, and self-sacrifice.

We are nearly four month into the year and there have only been two  breakout hits: Captain Marvel and the horror film Us. Thus far, 2019’s box office has been a five-alarm disaster.
