Texas Boy Seriously Burned, Another Child Charged

A 10-year-old boy continues to fight for his life in a San Antonio hospital after being seriously burned in a fire set by another minor. That child was taken into custody and charged with first degree arson, a felony. However, authorities now say the incident does not appear to be intentional.

Police in Hope, Arkansas, believe an arsonist set fire to former President Bill Clinton’s childhood home on Friday. According to Hope Police Department Chief J.R. Wilson, early Friday morning a motorist spotted the fire at the Clinton Birthplace National Historic Site.

Pew: Half of All Church Fires in Last 20 Years Were Result of Arson

Many of the attacks on churches have been religiously or racially motivated, the Center notes, such as a string of arson attacks at six predominantly black churches in the Saint Louis area this month, although federal law enforcement agencies have ruled these fires to be unrelated and police are as yet unwilling to say whether the attacks are racially driven. Acts of arson are also significantly more common in churches than in other structures, and in recent years only 5-10% of residential and non-residential fires were intentionally set, as compared to the 51% of church fires that were deemed acts of arson.

Texas Capitol Police Seek ‘Person of Interest,’ Car Fire Possibly Arson

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking help from the public in identifying a “person of interest” (shown above) in connection with a car fire on the grounds of the Texas Capitol. The vehicle had been identified earlier on Friday by a Twitter user as belonging to a Texas House Sergeant at Arms employee, James “Trey” Morgan.

LAPD Anti-Terror Cops Arrest Suspect in Massive Downtown Fire

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has arrested a suspect, Dawud Abdulwali, 56, on arson charges connected with the massive downtown fire last December that consumed the Da Vinci apartment complex. The Los Angeles Times reports that Abdulwali was arrested Tuesday morning during a traffic stop, and after a lengthy investigation.
